About the event

We are extremely excited for you to join us for our Annual Fall Camping Trip from Thursday, September 26th to Sunday, September 29th! The campsite is about 8 hours from Los Angeles to the Ponderosa Grove Campground in Kanab Utah. On Thursday, September 26th we will be meeting and departing from a single meetup location within Los Angeles. We WILL be providing transportation to the campsite however you will NOT BE ALLOWED to drive to the campsite you must take the transportation provided. This camping trip is great for all levels of camping experience however please note due to the limitation of space on the bus you will be restricted on what you can bring. Please read all the information below!

1. Registration - Registration to the camping trip will be based on a raffle. Please fill out this form in order to enter your name in the raffle. Winners will be chosen at random and winners will be announced this Friday, August 16th. 

2. What You Can Expect:

  • Relaxing in the great outdoors
  • Sitting by the fire at night sharing stories
  • Group hike on a nearby trail
  • Sleeping under the stars
  • Cooked and grilled meals (according to your dietary restrictions)
  • Cold plunge

3. Camping Checklist - REI has a great camping checklist to help you figure out what to bring when going camping. At a bare minimum be sure to pack:

  • Tent
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Camping pillow
  • Camp chair
  • Headlamp/Flashlight
  • Tolietries
  • Hand warmers
  • Swimming trunks and a towel
  • Clothing fit for the various temperatures throughout the day and night

4. Weather - The weather forecast is sunny with clear skies at night. During the day the high will range 80°F - 81°F where the low will range 47°F - 48°F at night. Be sure to pack for the various temperatures throughout the day and night. Lastly, we suggest to check the weather as we get closer to the date to avoid any surprises.

5. Transportation - We WILL be providing transportation using a charter bus that will hold about 50 seats and as a result space will be limited in terms of what you can bring.

6. Meetup Location - We will be meeting at the Union Station East Long-Term Parking Garage 800 N. Alameda St. Los Angeles, CA on Thursday, September 26th at 12:00am midnight. It is imperative that we leave on time since the drive will be 8 hours. 

7. Pre-Camp Video Call - To make sure that we are all on the same page and to provide an opportunity for people to ask questions or address concerns, we will be having 2 video calls on Friday, August 23rd at 6:00pm PST and Friday, September 6th at 6:00pm PST. Details for the video call will be sent to those who registered for the event as we get closer to the date.

8. Camp Group Chat - There will be a WhatsApp group chat created during the week of the trip. This will allow us to coordinate and share any last minute or emergency information leading up to and during the trip. Be sure to have the WhatsApp app downloaded to your phone.

9. Campsite - The campsite is situated at the Ponderosa Grove Campground in Kanab, Utah. There will be NO SHOWERS at the campsite however there will be vault toilets. The campground is named after the small canopy of ponderosa pine trees that shade the campsites. Cell coverage on the campsite is rated as nearly non-existent so be prepared. For more information about the campsite please visit campsite homepage at Recreation.gov. The coordinates to the campsite are 37° 5' 20.7375" N 112° 40' 19.8944" W. The campsite will be at an elevation of 6,300 feet.

10. The Cost of the Ticket - The trip is 100% free but you must put down a deposit in order to reserve your spot. You will be refunded at the end of the trip on Monday, September 30th.
